Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) Video
Called Surya Namaskar in original Yoga texts in Hindi language, this is one of the most popular and comprehensive yogic exercise wherein each posture flows out of the other. It is truly called the Mother of all the yoga exercises as it is a holistic exercise regime meant to ‘overhaul’ the whole body. While it benefits arms, hands chest, abdomen, spine and neck, it is particularly useful for hips, thighs, legs and feet.
It starts with the subject standing facing the sun or its direction with folded hands. Hindus believe Sun to be a god of divine radiance and power. By folding your hands, you are seeking his blessings for the same divine radiance and energy that he manifests.
